Cool fertilizer

Hi gang: Has anyone used Jobes fruit tree spikes for bananas? They have a 10-15-15 ratio. I dont want to kill my bananas but would like to fertilize them. I usually just water them with miracle grow. Thanks

I use fruit tree fertilizer made by Fertilome. I havent used the spikes but I would think they would work well. They are slow release so if you want faster growth you might be better off with a water soluable fertilizer. I fertilize weekly, sometimes more often. I alternate organic fertilizer (dried checken manure), granular fruit tree fertilizer and water soluable banana fuel. It seems to work well for me. My Basjoos were 15 feet tall at the end of the growing season last fall. One is already 10 feet, way ahead of this time last year. It helps that we had an early spring and warmer than normal temps this spring.

You can buy it on ebay, just search for banana fertilizer. Its made my Wellspring gardens. It comes in 2 lbs bags, you mix it with water. One 2lb bag last me about a month. I need to order more myself.

Or here
Banana Fuel !

I was getting it from Wellspring before, but now I need more than a 1 or 3lb bag. You can buy 25lb for a much better price.

So which kind to get, Subtropical or Ornamental version?

If you're only buying one, get the 20-5-30. Otherwise consider a 5-lb bag of 28-8-18 and 25-lb bag of 20-5-30.

I make an annual purchase from Richard (above).
Properly priced, cheaper than wellspring and super fast priority shipping to your doorstep.
Richard has a post in here somewhere breaking down the costs for producing fertilizers. If you can find it, you may better understand his super low prices.
P.S. I don't work for Richard 

Thanks

I mix it up in my 15 gallon sprayer according to the instructions.. It definately goes a long way in the 25lb version for me. :^)
I don't work for Richard either, but am very satisfied with the product I puchased. :^)

Each of my plants gets 1 heaping tablespoon mixed into 1 gallon of water each Sunday.
Maybe that will help.
I go through a 25lb bag each year-approx 12 plants.
Zone 10 = long growing season.
I only seperate excessive pups that are leaving my property.
Growing Tall Braz, dwarf braz and dwarfs.

Here's the thread where I posted dosages: Water Soluble Banana Fuel Dosages

One pound of 20-5-30 is about 1.7 cups.

Right now the Bananas are growing fast, so I have been giving them 3/4 cup mixed into 5 gallon of water spread around the root base / drip line.
