I woulud give them to my plants, IF my shells were not covered in spice, salt and butter.
You just have to dry out the shells and crush them as fine as possiable.

Butter who uses butter? I thought that was only for Lobster. Spices keep the rodents away from digging them up.. Now salt maybe a concern I'll have to look at the ingredient list.. :^)

I know I'll be skewered for this but I add everything to my own compost pile including meat, bones, shells, citrus peels, egg shells and whatever will rot in a hot bin. However, I have a homemade soil sifter that looks like one of those raffle drums so anything not broken down gets put back in the WIP. (I toss rocks--I'm too old to wait for those to break down.)

I lived up north where the plows dropped salted snow from the road onto my front flower beds annually; they did not suffer so I'm not convinced it hurts things. Okay, I know you can mix up a very salty solution to spread on a gravel driveway and it keeps weeds down for a couple of months but otherwise they spring back just fine. (No, I would not intentionally put a massive dose on anything precious to me but in a compost bin that is watered and turned I see no issue--prove me wrong.)

I don't think it necessarily the Shells but all the matter that goes w/ the shells minus the meat of course.. That why they make them little forks.. This guy don't like that idea.. can you tell.. :^)

I went to Albertson's the other day to see what they had and the man behind the counter pulled out the biggest live Maine Lobster they had. Sucker had big o' claws.. I was glad they had rubber bands on, now that would've been a good pic.. :^)
