Re: What are some Great indoor fruiting banana plants?
If you can supply the plant(s) with at least 50 Watts/sq.ft. of 6400 to 6500 Kelvin light from a T5 HO system, then you can be successful growing and fruiting bananas indoors.

Re: What are some Great indoor fruiting banana plants?
All depends on the height of your ceiling. The smaller the plant the easier to grow indoors.

There are some people here from your region who have grown fruiting bananas -- keeping them outdoors during the warmest months and indoors other times. The time to fruit has been 5 years. Keep in mind that the light source needs to be overhead.

Re: What are some Great indoor fruiting banana plants?
Yea I plant mine in the spring an bring inside in the fall. A heated room with lots of natural light seems like a way to go as we'll with the right heater an thermostat.

I use cfl spirals at 300 watt output x 3 in a ceiling fan for some ferns and a few bananas plants which is just enough to get by. You may also use 6500 k tubes that you may buy at big box stores ; for your set up you might need a four bulb fixture for good light and coverage for 100.00+~ YouTube is an awesome source for do it yourself lights.....keyword cfl grow lights LED GROW LIGHTS | Advanced Design LED | Best PRICES on LEDs | HTG Supply . |

Re: What are some Great indoor fruiting banana plants?
I'm pretty sure if they were looking for plant lights then they wouldn't go there. I typically go to https://wilberline.com/grow-lights.html
By the way...who uses grow lights with bananas??? |

Re: What are some Great indoor fruiting banana plants?
I know a guy in Barrow AK who has an endless supply of fuel to run his generators, and a produce grower in Menefee CA who has a geothermal well to power his 5 1/4-acre greenhouses, of which one he uses for tropical fruits.

Re: What are some Great indoor fruiting banana plants?
It can get very expensive! I recommend Musa Raja Puri. I also have a couple SDC that reliably produce every year. They get 3-4’ tall in ground. Would do great in a large pot!
Good luck and keep us updated!

Re: What are some Great indoor fruiting banana plants?
Yes, entirely. Fruiting bananas are dead within a few weeks outdoors in Barrow AK, and would take 18-36 months to fruit outdoors in Menefee CA.
