Re: What has caused this?
Noticed what??? ... Looks great to me. Try to increase the sun light to the plants.
Were you hit by the blizzards? How much snow is on the ground? You might need to draw the shades so the Nanas wont see it! The snow tend to scare the hell out of them. |

Re: What has caused this?
Thanks but you see the edge of the newest leaf on the left. It's starting to go yellow/brown. Thankfully we haven't had snow here since mid Feb.

Re: What has caused this?
Looks like possible slight potassium deficiency.
What is your potting soil? How long has it been in the pot?

Re: What has caused this?
Likely a little over watering. Check the soil moisture with a meter and make sure water IS NOT collecting in the bottom of the pot. ... As long as the soil does not go dry (leaves droop) wait until another new leaf shows to see if this is a problem.

Re: What has caused this?
Thanks for the quick replies. It's miracle grow potting soil and added cow manure over the last year. 2 years this summer it's been in this container. I will try to re pot it this summer. It does have drainage holes at the bottom and when I water I watch it flow out. No growth from that pup in days I was getting worried.. I'll let the container dry out a bit.

Before you water, check the dryness of the soil around the drainage holes of the pot. If its not dry-dry after about a week, you may be in trouble with the potting mix or too much water...I'd say the mix (colder temps take longer to dry). I've never been able to water too much in a fast draining potting soil and I've watered potted bananas after WAY too many beers . When I say water too much, I mean at one time. only water again in a pot if the soil by the drainage holes are dry-dry - usually takes a week for me. Did you add un-composted or composted cow manure as top dressing?

Re: What has caused this?
It was added with some composted manure. I have tried to play it safe. Checking the sides all the way down with a wooden meter stick. It was to the point of not growing for over a month because I let it get too dry at the bottom..not watering so it runs out the bottom. I try to go one week-week and a half depending on the weather. It's been very sunny this past week+.

Re: What has caused this?
Just check the top layer and soil around drainage holes with your finger. The meter stick going ll the way down the potting soil may disturb the roots too much. Just my opinion.

Re: What has caused this?
Hi Matt
To me it looks like you had the potting mix wet, longer than required. I am not sure if you have a heat mat, but they are invaluable to me, as i dont have to worry if the soil stays too wet and cool. Last edited by mushtaq86 : 03-27-2018 at 02:47 PM. |

Re: What has caused this?
HI mushtaq86, good to see you around. Heat mats are nice I used to use them on small plants.
Yes it was too wet I will cut back on the water. Say I give it 5 gallons instead of 7. I noticed a new leaf starting to push up on the mother plant. starting to watch for a leaf size decrease.
