started bringing plants inside

Re: started bringing plants inside
just a few more to collect from neighbours... and some stayed at their summer home
![]() last year the big ones i chopped down did quite well so i tried it with most of the plants this year usually the leaves which grew outside die when they come inside and vice versa it makes it a little easier going through the kitchen and down the stairs to the basement too ![]() they will likely be hitting the ceiling in no time luckily no flower buds were encountered while hacking ![]() |
Re: started bringing plants inside
Nice collection of plants you have, I find the one good thing about bringing them in is that we don't have to water them as much, you sure do have your hands full watering all of yours. I don't cut my nana down, I treat her as a house plant, I enjoy seeing her all winter and she does put out new leaves.

Re: started bringing plants inside
I'm going to try chopping back half of my pots.
You're right, the leaves I bring inside don't make it long. And the leaves produced inside don't make it outside in the spring! That way I can enjoy looking at several of my plants this winter, like Christine, and not have a jungle in my dining room! |
Re: started bringing plants inside
i almost forgot about the fruiting one
my friend had wrapped the bunch with a pair of track pants and put a hand warmer packet hanging slightly below in the track pants so the heat would rise towards it he did this on a couple nights when the temperatures went near zero (and there was frost) the bunch has been cut now and is hanging the yellow colour is likely cold damage and not ripeness some seem filled in or close to it while others look angular still hopefully we will be able to eat some! ![]() |
Re: started bringing plants inside
oh yeah, the scale of this bunch is quite small...
not exactly a 100+lbs rack! yes the watering is fun at first and becomes a chore at times i would like to get a hose and wand carrying buckets and watering with a jar is how i do it now i use an abs pipe to reach the far ones it is about 3 feet long and i pour the jar into the one end |
Re: started bringing plants inside
I think MABYE the bunch is raja puri:08:

Re: started bringing plants inside
Looking mighty fine..
You're going to need to raise the roof soon. |
Re: started bringing plants inside
well most of the bananas were eaten... they were best with the skin black
![]() the ensete ventricosum large seed were transplanted to larger containers the other one of the two had more roots but the pic was blurry ![]() they seem happy.. i put them right under the HPS ![]() ![]() everything is growing some bug issues though... ![]() i noticed a flag today... unfortunately it only has 3 small leaves that is its pup in the foreground it will have many months of steady temperatures at least ![]() |
Re: started bringing plants inside
some 2020 pics of the garden
![]() ![]() the flowering one is on the right side of this next pic... its pup is obscuring the view the flower is pushing out fairly slowly ![]() i like this pic... turned out nice ![]() a friend had a dwarf iholena flower after being chopped down, brought inside near a window it was a large plant this past summer i have not seen it in person but the flower is huge apparently and has dropped since this pic was taken ![]() |
