Default sick banana

so i have a bunch of banana in containers. they are all doing awful outside. some i overwintered in the house and each year they are smaller and smaller and get leggy looking with few leaves. most of them died back in a heatwave we had. i think i had 13 now i have 2. i have 3 musa basjoo in huge pots, they are 2-3' tall and were doing great, now the too are sick looking. they arent sedning up new leaves as much as they were, one the new leaf turned black as it was coming up and the older leaves started separating from the main plant all the way down decided it really wasnt doing well so i cut it back to about 8" thinking it would just get some new growth but it hasnt. i have them mixed with about 60% miracle grow potting soil 40% perlite some osmocote. i have a red abysinian in a big put that id growing amazing under the same conditions except it doesnt get as much afternoon sun. what am i doing wrong?
