Potted Ice Cream banana question
 

I have a 2 year old potted Ice cream who got burn by freezing we had in November. I live in Northern Cali and now we have a very nice weather, around 65* during the day and 40* at night. I cut the dead leaves and 2-3 in from the top. I can see that there is green in the middle so it's still alive :-) I was hoping that it will fruit this year.
I was wondering if I can cut about a foot from the top so I can reduce the size. It is safe? Would this reduce the size of the banana?

I like the mantra from pitangadiego: green is good, brown is bad. If you don't like the brown, you can safely remove it. Removing the top of your Ice Cream will reduce the overall height of the banana stem, and to the extent that you remove solar panels (leaves) you will also loose production of fruit. The size of your crop is dictated by the health and genetics of the corm. If the cold caused leaves to "brown out", then removing them will not stunt the eventual crop any further.

This is my first banana i was able to grow it (killed a few in the process) and am sooo looking forward to see it bloom.
So, removing the top will reduce the chances to fruit this year, correct?
