Is it possible to fruit a Red Dwarf indoors?

I love the look of the red dwarf, but I am worried that I will not be able to grow and flower it inside (too cold outside most of the year here) If it grows in a large pot, will it flower at a smaller size?

And will the same go for a dwarf Orinoco?

I do not have any place with high ceiling. Just regular room hight.

With the right lighting you could get most any plant to grow and flower indoors.
Many MJ growers are growing in closets. :)

Thanks :bananas_b
I was just wondering if it might get too big to have indoors.

I've seen Dwarf Cavendish fruiting indoors so I'd imagine that can too. I just would definitely recommend a pot bigger than 7 gallons.

Hay all
I live in nj and have several bananas in doors the dwarf red will run about 5 to 8 ft. In a 30 gallon pot.they will also be about 5 ft. Wide . You can keep the weight done by using mirical grow pot mix mix in a bag of palm and cactus mix and about 20% purlight.
Reds will flower and produce with the light and food and warmth and it seams to take 2 years + to get them to the fruit stage .
I. Use a smaller room in my home that has lots of south facing windows I have a extra heater that keeps it about 80 in the day and 68 at night also humidifier to keep it between 60 and 80.
I give fish amoltion every 2 weeks or so and banana fuel about the same .
I try and give them about 2 mouths of down time a year to try and simulate the season.it seems to work well. Happy growing

You're probably right about the big pots indoors. I have a small green house in connection with my house, and I plan on having the majority of my plants in there. Big heavy pots (I use wheels on them btw - much easier to cart them around) will work fine in the greenhouse.

For indoors I plan on buying some large plastic 30g tubs (still on wheels for easy moving and cleaning indoors) and build a nice wooden frame around it. That way no one will be able to see the ugly plastic pot, or the wheels for that matter.

Guess some nice laquered wood would look nice.. Oh well, planning ahead of myself, will be some time before I need those large pots.

I have 1,2,3 year plants the 3 year is about 5 ft with a 5 ft leaf spand all together the stemm is about 4 inchs around but nanners like it alittle tight . It doesn't take up as much room as mouthing ..instill they produce. Then more room is needed .my room is 10x12 and I got 12 nanners in there with some dwarf fruit and papia as well .
The bigger nanners go in the basment . With a heat set of 75 and alittle less light.

Re: Is it possible to fruit a Red Dwarf indoors?

Ok .
Dwarf candanavish 2 of them should flower this year .
Several reds they like to give pups .1 last summer about 5 foot and about 10 leaves .had to plant in ground . To get it to flower . Then move it in carefully with help .
2 doubles there new
2 blue javas new
2 Apples new
2 pinapals new.
4 California golds 2 wintered outside and to in .incase they don't make it .
4 unknown came to me by mastacks no packing slip
This is my forth year and many mess ups the red is the only one so far but now I think I got it down
Also do pineapples and papia .
Lemons oranges tangerines lime pomegranate donut peach figs and it vows on ...
They are mostly all dwarf verietys witch take longer to fruit no matter what the adds say .
And most nanners are very forgiving and with alittle research you can get them back from a Opps

Re: Is it possible to fruit a Red Dwarf indoors?

Sorry no pics can't fugure out how to post them on smart phone .
The reds fruit was small and didn't yield much hoping for better results this year with the coming up on two year pups ...last Opps I made was over fertilizing them .salt content I guess got 2 high in the pots and the tops bunched up on themselves . Live and learn .
It is a lot of hard work trying to fruit these guys in the cold ailments . Will I ever get a plantation full of fruit from it ... I'll keep trying .
But I love my nanners

You have to watch out for those Dwarf Orinocos. While not a common problem, the critters will sometimes decide to kick into a growth spurt & mess up your plans:
