Plantains for containers?
Hello. I did a couple searches for this, but i couldn't find anything. Could someone give me a list of plantains that would grow well in containers? From what i understand so far, Ornico can be used as a plantain, so the dwarf variety should work.

The Super would work well. Need at least a 30 gal pot. Wider better than deeper. It's a short cycle. Fruit guaranteed in one season. Grow it out in the house where it's warm. If it's 4 to 5 ft tall after last danger of frost you should have fruit in the early fall.

Thanks for your suggestions. For the super, i hardly doubt that any plant will be able to fruit in one season in New York, i would call it banana hell but hell's supposed to be hot, right?:ha: or maybe not for bananas...
but perhaps i could get that to fruit in two years. either way, thanks. |

By mid Sept it gets cool. By that time the fruit would be filled in pretty much and it could go out and inside as weather dictates. Plantains can finish filling in in the house. Then call the Post and become famous. :08: Can banana trees grow in new york |
