Overwintering container bananas
Our sad sorry summer is drawing to a close here in the SE of England and next month I will need to think about overwintering my banana plants. I have had them for 4-6 months and have ensete and musa varieties. I believe overwintering is different for each one? Ensete I can un pot and store cool, dark and dry...is that right? How about Musa? I have a hardy basjoo as well but they are young so I want to bring those in. How about growing inside under lights? Any ideas appreciated.

You may do a forum search with keywords grow lights/overwintering / hibernate. Youtube offers many informative videos also.....do check them out, you will be able to see what everyone is doing. There are many choices to choose from just pick and choose what you can use and afford. Growing indoors is fun! Here is a great link to start. Time to put the bananas to sleep for the Winter |

Re: Overwintering container bananas
I am a student of over wintering. So far I have a D. One thing I have learned is that water kills.

Re: Overwintering container bananas
I have a manzano and ensete maurelli that were both under lights all last winter. I eventually had to move my ensete and manzano to a window because it was just too big for my tent.
