![]() It was just delivered it came in a box and its pretty pathetic looking, all pale green with two brown leaves in a tiny pot. So I placed it into a larger pot with soil and a dry mixture of rabbit manure and worm casings and I watered it. Now I have it under a lamp. I'm so thrilled, I hope it'll do okay!!! ![]() |

Very exciting to get the first one... the SDC is a great choice too. In time it should perk right up with all the care you seem to be giving it. Keep it warm as you can and don't over water.....patience (which for me is impossible) helps a lot too when they're young plants. Bet you have more than one in no time

Great. How long before it gives fruit? One to three years?

Excellent! SDC are great plants...where did you order from? As far as fruiting, it could be 1-5 years depending on climate, care (soil, fertilizer, watering, etc) and if it's potted or in the ground.

I'm in zone 6b and it will be potted. I ordered off Amazon.com from Hirts Gardens. It was $9.99 for the plant and they have seeds for $3.99 too.

SDC seeds? Pretty sure they're a seedless variety!

Its doing well and even sprouting a banana leaf. I have it under a lamp and I think it likes the rabbit manure/worm casing mixture because its getting healthier everyday.

It snowed last night and I woke up this morning and the leaves were frozen and then my only lamp went out. So now I wrapped the exposed soil part in saran wrap and placed it on the stove under the kitchen light with the stove on for heat. If I can go out tonight I'll try to buy a heating lamp.
