I repotted. Didn't know what I was doing but I had fun.
 

Here is my set up. I used coco coir that I buffered in the bag. I'm not sure if it's effective doing it in the bag but I didn't really care, I went for it. I then rinsed it just cause. Basically pour the liquid in the top and punch a couple pen holes in the bottom of the bag. It works.....I think.

I also used perlite and a tiny bit of earth worm castings cause I had some.


These are the ladies that need repotting.


A 1.5 months ago I repotted these from 6" to 1 gal pots.




They are now in 5 Gal containers. Fun fact: A 5 gal thin-walled nursery pot is 3.99 at Home Depot. A thick-walled 5 gal bucket is only 3.97. And that's only if you buy the 24 pack of nursery pot. Not sure why that is. Maybe next time I will just buy buckets and drill.


I tried separating a few pups as practice in case I ever get some on my Aeae. I don't think it worked out well.


We will see what happens.


Anyways, like I said, I had fun. I know many of you out there with more experience would have done it differently but that's okay with me. I didn't want to spend days reading the internet about how to pot a banana.

Wow, those plants are really cooking along, nice.

Looking at the pic of the pups you cut out, the only things I would do differently next time are to maybe wait until the pups are a little bigger and then cut the towards the corm a little, so you get a bit of the mother corm. It looks like you may have cut either straight down or away from the mother corm, which, with small pups especially, effectively leaves behind a good portion of the roots that will feed them on their own.

But who knows, we will see what happens.

Thanks for the tips. Here is a higher res pic of my cutting. You are right. I basically went vertically. I also had difficulty separating them as it was just a ball of roots. What does one do with pups they don't want. Just let them grow or kill them off?

Any desirable plants I have an excess of I either give away or sell....mostly I sell if none of my friends are interested. I don't do FB but my wife does, and marketplace has a huge audience, even in our little area, and she always find buyers/takers for everything, most often within the same day.
