Re: Overwintering under T5 lights

:08: I have overwintered my basjoo pups (starting out about 2 1/2 ft. tall) in pots, under the jumpstart grow lights that are on a metal frame. I put the lights up on stools, to give them height over the plants, and by spring, the bananas are much taller, and very happy! I have very little natural light in my studio, so I use several of these fixtures, raised up higher, for all my tropicals from late Sept to May. I managed to suceed with elephant ears, 5 musa basjoos, a huge ensete maurelii and several flowering vines. I never had to get any fancier than that.:woohoonaner:

Re: Growing under lights

I guess it's that time of year for some of us. I have like 20 potted plants sitting in a room where windows are not much help. My plan is to put up a 3 (adj.) light floor lamp and put these bulbs in them from 1000 bulbs...Energy Miser FE-IISB-23W-65K - 23 Watt - T2 CFL - 100 W Equal - 6500K Full Spectrum Daylight - 80 CRI - 70 Lumens per Watt - 15 Month Warranty | 1000Bulbs.com

FC23-FEIIS23W64 Energy Miser FE-IISB-23W-65K - 23 Watt - T2 CFL - 100 W Equal - 6500K Full Spectrum Daylight - 80 CRI - 70 Lumens per Watt - =1600 lumens

FC30-FEIIS30W65 Energy Miser FE-IIS-30W-64K - 30 Watt - CFL - 120 W Equal - 6400K Full Spectrum - 80 CRI - 67 Lumens per Watt - =2000 lumens

I'm trying to be somewhat energy efficient. These are not labeled as grow lights but being full spectrum, in my opinion, should suffice. I understand about the blue and the higher the lumens the better, but they're just gonna have to deal with it, lol. I don't care if they grow threw the winter, i just want to keep them alive. Any experience or thoughts on this type of lighting?
