Feeding either a Super Dwarf Cavendish or just a regular Dwarf Cavendish
 

This Banana:



is either a Super Dwarf Cavendish or a regular Dwarf Cavendish (I'm actually starting to think it's just a regular DC because it seems to be growing quicker and taller than a SDC.

Now, my question is this: I want to feed them, but all I really have access to is Miracle Grow or something like that. Can I just make a really weak solution and give it to them?

If you have miracle grow then theres nothing wrong with using that! Mix at 1/4 strength in the water and use it every time you wet the plants during the growing season. It CAN be a problem, if you over fertilize too strong as it can burn the roots and kill your plant. I rarely use any type of fertz on any of my plants, although recently I have been mixing in bags of Miracle Grow potting mix into my mix I use for potted specimens. Usually once or twice a year, in spring and summer, I will pick up some Fish Emulsion from Home Depot and fertilize with this. Its 100% organic. Real stinky for a few days, but well worth it. Bananas are also very heavy potassium feeders. If your soil isnt working out growing bananas, heliconias, Birds of Paradise, or cannas-- use some Epsom Salts dissolved in the water. When I was small I remember my Grandfather telling me that when the Indians planted corn they would go fishing first and then throw a dead fish along with some freshwater oyster shells in the hole before planting the corn. I do remember finding lots of these oyster shells in the ground when he was plowing a plot for the summer garden!
