Container collection

Some of my collection in (hopefully) temporary pots. They are ibc's cut down to 400l. Using liquid fertilizer and soon plumbing in fertigation.[IMG][/IMG]

Perfect!

Re: Container collection

Thanks, I've gone for the ibc as they give a shallower profile for the literage. If its a hot day I can close the taps in the bottom so the water doesnt drain out of the mix. They can also be moved with a bobcat. Plus they cost me five usd each.

My plan for drip irrigation, this should cover most of the roots.

That’s really great! I love it! I was going to use a IBC for my next hydro banana.

These are all growing in 65L pots/tubs on recirculating hydroponics with expanded clay media.

No squirrels to dig holes in potting media where you live?

Re: Container collection

No squirrels where I am, there are the odd rats and im guessing im going to have to bait for them. Should have added, the hydro ones arent mine it was a setup I visited when looking for the smallest footprint of fruiting banana. Will probably setup a system like this when i cross my first seeds .

Try putting a nut beneath the plate and a rubberband to keep a pressure down.
then the nut is taken the trap triggers.
i use this method on mice and it works better.

I use peanut butter for mice. If I wanted to kill squirrels, I would use rat traps in the manner you described. Unlike for mice, I don't want to attract squirrels, nor do I want to physically damage them. My method works great. I sometimes find a trap fifty feet from where I placed it.

I should mention that the wooden portion of the traps were dipped in marine varnish to make them waterproof. Otherwise, they would only last about a week. It's a shame that the manufacturer doesn't varnish them for outdoor use.
