Can I cut the pseudostem?

My banana isn't feeling very good, it hasn't improved since I repotted it about 2 months ago. (see my previous post from around that time for pictures) I've ordered a grow light online, hoping it will help get it through the winter months. It's an LED grow light with 12 red and 6 blue LEDs in it. It's not the absolute best option, but at least it won't cost me a week's worth of food.

If I can get my banana to grow again, can I cut the pseudostem to shorten the stem a bit so it doesn't need to invest so much energy to get leaves up and out?

The corm is quite tall, at about 12 cm the green stems start showing. The width is about half the length, I reckon.

If you cut the "P" Stem then you have no leaves to absorb light.
Do you have green leaves now?
If so it is trying it's best to get strong again.

Do you talk to it? Can't hurt.

It's not looking healthy at all. The leaves continue to brown and the cigar leaf on top has stayed this way for about 6 weeks now and is starting to go brown as well.

It's in a south-east facing window, but most of the direct light is blocked by the building across the street. The sun comes up at 8 and goes down at 16.30 local time. The window isn't exactly keeping out the cold, either. The windowsill is aluminium and the surface of the window gets really cold. I don't think I want to put it in a warmer spot in my room, because then it would get even less light. I'll wait for the grow light to come in and then I'll place it somewhere warmer with the light over it.

Make sure it's not overwatered. It's all too easy to do with indoor plants...

Re: Can I cut the pseudostem?

I've discovered plant lice inside the cigar leaf. I used a solution of soap and spiritus to kill them. I know a capsaicin solution is better for the plant, but I couldn't get my hand on peppers yet since the shops in my area are closed.

I've also decided to put a few lights right on top of the green parts of the leaves, hoping that will at least give some photosynthesis capabilities after dark. They're pure white and warm white LED's. According to a quick google search, they should produce a spectrum of light that contains the right wavlengths for photosynthesis.

I really hope my banana can pull through!
