![]() I am very new to growing bananas and was curious on the development of my plants.
Mostly wanted to see approximate height, size and stem color, size. Right now everything is green, but ive seen in other pics that the main stem gets more brown and tough. Thanks in advance for the pics. Tommyg

![]() Here's a picture of a DC that was about 10 weeks old and approximately 15cm /5.9in when taken, this is a pup that was prematurely removed from a large mother plant.
I don't think a Basjoo is will get a real dark P-Stem even in maturity, just a species attribute Last edited by TalyMon : 09-30-2011 at 11:02 PM. Reason: grammar |

![]() Wow! That plant looks great! so it looks like the main stem actually grows taller as well and gets thicker. One of mine has 10 leaves about to put on one more and the other has 7 leaves, but I can tell they are both a little shorter than yours.
May I ask what size pot you have yours in? I have mine in a 10 inch and was debating whether to put it in a larger pot. Thanks T

![]() Tommyg, if you bought your plants from a nursery (or online), they are probably tissue cultured (TC) plants. Don't expect them to look and behave like pups removed from large plants when small. Eventually, when bigger, they will look the same, but not when small, in my experience. When small, the pups will be stouter than the TC plants.

![]() Good to know.
Actually I"m probably looking for a 4 month old plant as when I got mine it was about 8 inches tall and had 7-10 leaves on it. I'm just curious how the main stem matures and what it looks like as it gets a little bigger. Thanks!
