Yellowing of banana leaves

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the health of one of my banana plants. On the photo below you can see 2 plants of the same age that get the same amount of light, water, feed, etc. The one on the left however has leaves that are remarkably more yellow compared to the healthier green shade of the right one's leaves.

The right one is looking healty;

The left one grows very slow and its leaves are much paler.

Also note that on the above photo you can see the lower leaf being extra pale where the upper leaf covers it.

Does this seem like a deficiency of some kind, or a chlorofyl issue?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Best regards,

Karl

more perlite? smaller pot? what else is different? might have to do some digging to find out?

The soil is from the same bag, scooped out at the same time, so the extra perlite on the surface is propably a coincidence. I'll try to repot that one today and take pictures of it's root system ;)

Due to the size restrictions on the forum's photo uploading function I had it size reduced which make the leaves seem spottier than they are.

The spots are actually small water droplets. Here is the original sized one via an external photo site;

So I'm suspecting mites aren't the problem. (You got me worried there for a bit :D )

Update:

I've repotted the plant with my camera ready but not much root was to be photographed as the current pot was still more than sufficiently big. However, the soil at the bottom was bone dry, even though I thought I watered it thoroughly. So I now transferred it to a bigger pot, with better soil, through which I mixed some dry slow-release fertilizer as well. Then I watered it until all of the soil was wet, and now it is sitting comfortably in the sun :)

Hopefully this triggers some healthy new leaf growth!

Update: The plant is doing fine again! The newer leaves are larger and much greener, and it grows better too :08:

Left one on the picture;
