Hello guys,
Id like to ask you for advice.
2 weeks ago my nanas was moved out home to garden.
I tryied to aclimate them to the sun from full shade to semi shade.
They lost few leaves since they was moved to new place (storms) and they releases new leaves.

So now they are at the full light since 3 days.
We got arroud 30C/86F* here and when the sun appears their leaves are rolling inside. Today after monring watering they rolled like a chicken wrap thats why i fell bit anxious.
I cant find out is that a normal situation or if they got too dry surface or if they still not used to the full sun.
Ive attached few photos and I would be very grateful for your advice
The soil is a mix of flower soil+compost+vermiculite. I water them once at the morning.

fine looking plants. they do that in the sun and the heat, open back up at night. what kind of plants are they? like the big one. I would put the 5 smaller ones back in the semi shade tho. the heavy sun will slow down their growth.

The big one is Ensete Glaucum, two smallest under it are Extra Dwarf Cavendish, and the others are Ensete Ventricosum and one basioo

that ensete glaucum is going to be a beautiful plant, grand. didn't spot the two tiny ones under the ensete glaucum. best of luck.

I agree with Beam. And also add the 2 bigger plants need to be transplanted to the ground. Their pots can not hold enough water for their needs and to add that much water will flood the roots, also not good. These will benefit from daily misting of the leaves.



The smaller plants need to go back under simi-shade and have misting 2 or 3 time a day. All the bananas need protection from the hot afternoon sun.



Next from the photos .... The plants appear to be a little too deep in the soil. The top of the corm needs to be at soil level or just above. Some roots will be at the surface. This is normal and OK. This helps the roots & corm to breath, stay dry and to receive fresh water from the daily tropical showers. ... IMO, Because these plants are not being grown in the tropics, a raised bed with misting and drip irrigation on timers is the best way to grow Bananas in the home landscape.


Your bananas in ground with the proper amount of water and misting, the leaves should not roll up or droop in temps less than 100° F.


I misted my bananas last year 2 & 3 Xs a day through the hot dry South Georgia summer. The leaves never drooped unless I was a bit late giving water and then they opened up quickly. I also, watered the in-ground plants/soil to off set the daily soil evaporation due to heat & drought conditions.

That is a great looking garden.

For me, plants when brought outside from indoors take some time to sort themselves out possibly 30-60 days. Even longer if you had up potted them.
I will loose some of the lower leaves and a few plants get sun burnt and some of the weaker leaves will break with the slightest breeze.
I grow most of my banana plants in various sized black landscape containers some in full sun and some in part sun.
The plants that are well established in the pot seem to tolerate the heat somewhat better but they still show short periods of stress when really hot.


The black containers while great looking and decorative will get extremely hot in the sun .
The stone walkway will provide additional unwanted prolonged heat to the already hot containers.
For fun put a thermometer in the soil sun side of the container and see what the temperature is. My guess it is 40C+ which is not that healthy for the plants roots.

A shady spot might be in order till the plants get established?

Thanks guys for your help. I reorganized my plants as you adviced i see they feel better. Anywas i feel i still overwater them. Could you take a look at photos and say do you see signs of overwatering here? My basioo changed his collor from dark green to toxic green :/
