Question Weird black stains on pseudo stem

Does anyone happen to know what in the world these weird looking black stains are? I ended up cleaning off what sort of looked like soil or something off the pstem yesterday and noticed these stains underneath. I was afraid that it was bugs. Eww.... Thanks for any help! Sorry I tried to edit the pictures so it would be portrait so you could see better. Didnít work!

Just wanted to let you know that the plant is doing wonderful! So it’s not dead or dying after all! It’s getting very tall! So I’m pretty happy!

Happy to hear that your banana is doing better. I have never seen that before so I had nothing to offer but watch to see other comments.

Very normal, most banana plants are not pure green, there are normally varying levels and types of pigmentation on many parts of the plant.

I've seen similar dark markings on my nanners, but it is usually just under the petioles.
