![]() you didn't say what type of banana.
most bananas do not pup that small. wood ash in ground underneath or on the side is excellent you do not have to worry about how much you use generally. now their in the ground post hole 4 to 5 inches from the plant about a foot and fill with wood ash to the top.

![]() i do not plant my bananas in wood ash, i have wood ash beside and below them. i have over 20 mats i dug a hole and burned about a pickup load and half of wood with about 17 varieties planted above that. my property has a ph level of 7, a meter beside those bananas shows a ph level of 7. i have a number of existing mats with post holes filled with ash running a 7 not in the ash, in the ash 7. i am also putting wood ash on the side of pots with excellent results. this is picture that is an extreme amount of wood ash. the second picture is of 2 sh3640 bananas, the blue pot is the one in the 1st picture, the banana in the blackpot is without wood ash. the 3rd picture is the same two 2 months later.

![]() so the sun is reflecting on the plant from those 2 sides as well?
This is basically baking your plant if it's getting light/heat from the sun and then reflected back upon form those 2 fences. If you can't or don't want to move the plant I woudl suggest getting some shade clothe and hanging it on the fence to dampen the heat and light. I've had to do this myself as this was killing both Banana plants and tomato plants in my grow area.

![]() Yeah, many don't. I figured it out one day when I was looking at my plants and wondering why they did so well at first in the spring but then in teh summer they were dying. As I was standing there I realized it was F-ing Hot standing there because of the reflected light and heat. Light bulb went on in my head.
So I put up the shade cloth like 10 years ago, haven't had the problem since.
