![]() Hey all,
I just wanted to know if any of you folks had any certain method to enable root growth. If so, will you share your methods? I am currently growing small pups in fabric and plastic containers. I'm making this post because I couldn't find general info on this topic through the search bar. (Maybe I'm not using particular key words?) Thanks for any pro-tips! |

I use plastic landscape containers. There are all kinds of way to boost faster root development. Do a search on soilless mixs containing mycorrhizae and related products. There are many on the market and some can be found at big box stores For me I find using a light and airy home made perlite and peatmoss mix a good starting foundation in containers and you can build to that with other soil amendments For a starter fertilizer I had picked up some Espoma Organic Garden fertilizer to mix in the soil as a kicker. I have found many folks has their own special technique that works for them Heavy fertilization is not good for root development of small plants . Check out this link and browse some of the other plant albums you might be able to take away something that might help Container mix Youtube offers a few good how to videos just pick and choose what is good for you. Keywords root development. |

Ok. I’ll have to cut back a bit on fertilization. I’ve been giving 5-5-5 every two weeks. Two table spoons per 5gal pot. I did a soil change two months ago. At that time, the roots looked pathetic. Could have also been the effect of root rot. But, no matter what, I want some well developed roots. Winters here are bad for about two weeks. I’d like to have some fast growers in early spring. It will help my chances with getting fruit. ![]() |

![]() How well do your containers drain? let them dry out between watering's. Roots that are wet all the time will rot.

![]() I have fabric pots. I almost never manually water them due to how often it rains here. They drain really well.
