pups loosing leaves

I disconnected about four pups last week,all had good roots and a thick corm.I dont think they will die but it seems that my variegated pups will be loosing all there leaves except for the cigar.It has been very hot with alot of rain this may be the cause,do you guys experience this some time when removing pups?

How long ago did you separate them? Since they had good roots , its probably just the normal transplant shock and they'll recover fine. This seems to be normal.

When I transplant a pup I tried to leave as much soil as I can and not to disturb the roots at all as much as I can. That way it is less shocking to the plant and recover very quickly. So no, I never experience wilting the leaves. Also I tried to cover the new plant from direct sunlight until it got adjusted completely to her new home.
In other words minimize the shock.

Thanks guys your on about the shock.wasnt thinkin about that.Thanks for the help.It does seem like the variegated plants took it a little harder,next time I will just be more cautious.

If they're wilting down and looking too bad, cut each leaf in half and put them in some shade, or if they're in the ground, put something like a trash can, etc between them and the sun temporarily.

Sandy: You hit it right on. That's how I do it.
I might add that roots can only supply so much to the leaves so if some of the roots were cut then there's not enough roots to supply the leaves so the leaves wilt so the solution is reduce the leaves.
This is also true to all the plants that I transfer whether a citrus or apples.
You will see how fast they recover if you do this.
I once got a calamondin for free from Joe Real that I uproot from the ground. It was 8 feet high and I dug it but because of its location I can only dug it bare root. I wrap it in burlap and watered it on the trip back. Before I put it on the ground I cut the tops off up to 5 feet and cut a few more branch and cover the top with cloth.
It recovered very quickly and put out more vigorous branch in no time. It is now at least 12 feet.
