Proper leaf cutting

So when I first got these I was cutting way to low of the leaves that needed to go and now I have this on my plants. Is this normal or when I properly cut the leaves will it just fix itself?

Great question...

For me, I cut my stems back to the soil line.......but some folks cut theirs an inch higher or more.
Your plant looks like they are doing well .

Oh really? I thought I read somewhere to just cut to just above the stem. I read that after I was just cutting all the way to just about the ground.

Basically this happens, the leaves start to fall away from the stem but the leaves themselves look fine. Normal?

On young plants like these, the leaves should not be yellowing & dying. ... Does the pstem have a soft feel and/of limber. Have you checked the Ph of the soil?

Please a close up of the plant and pics of the leaves.

If this isn’t what your looking for let me know. I can retake. We recently also got out of over a month over 105 degree weather every day.

The leaves do ok but they do start to fall away from the pstem (I believe that’s what it’s called based on my reading here). Only happens to the lower leaves

The lower leaves fall away from the pstem because they are the outer most leaf sheafs. May be, the hight temps caused this. But, some types of fungus and Fusarium wilt (a fungus) will cause this too. ... As a caution, I would spray the plants with a copper fungicide until we know for sure what the cause is.

The leaf sheafs should stay tight to the pstem. This is how the plant builds it strength to support large bunches.

It can also be caused by a deficiency. I dont recall which one. One of the tissue culture plants I put in the ground is slightly doing this. It should adjust itself over time. Gave it a large dose if rabbit and go at manure... I'm afraid they may need some calcium now. The leaves are doing funny things.

Been growing banana plants for the last 25 years out of pots in NYC and I never lost one to this day. Don't ever worry about cutting off leaves or replanting a banana plant. I love my plants and I do threat them as weeds for my best results
