![]() I have 4 Apple Banana planted and all 4 new plants started to have a same problem after 2 months in the ground (clay soil) -- New leaf (shoot) is brown and would not open. Or, sometimes, it opens, then turns brown at the bottom and the leaf breaks off.
They are all only 2-3 feet tall. I called the nursery and they say it may be the drainage problem. But, 4 new plants are located next to a full-grown healthy Apple Banana plant. Also, one of 4 is on the higher ground with gravelly soil, and still having the same problem. Please tell me what I can do to save them! P.S. Can't figure out how to post photos, but they are on galleries Banana Gallery - New leaf brown |

![]() Dang.. that's strange. I have grown a couple of thousands of banana plants in South Carolina and have seen that only in 'new' growth after cold weather. Be patient... it may clear itself up.

![]() I had a California Cold that went through a case of the 'Brown & Mushies'...
I thought it was a goner...left it alone & let it do it's thing(after I cut the brown & mushy off VERY carefully). It's a beauty now!! So there's hope Ms. Luke!! ![]()

![]() Is there any chance that they came into contact with herbicide? There are several lawn herbicides that can be quite detrimental to bananas.

![]() Where did you get these plants from specifically?
Is there any particular reason you don't want to just remove some keiki from your large plant to replant?
