My nearly dead banana ('nother update)

Hi all,

It's been a month since I updated last. I've since put the corm in a bit deeper and it does seem to be absorbing water. The radiator (almost) underneath the plant is turned off. There's still cold air coming around, because my windowsills are aluminium and they're not keeping the cold out. THe temperature in the windowsill can fluctuate between 14 and 20C, depending on sunlight, wind direction and force, and whether or not my main radiator is on (on the other side of the room).

This was my plant 6 weeks ago:

This was 4 weeks ago:

And this is today:

As I've said, it seems to be taking in water. The pstem is now about half as tall since the first time I posted and is composed of just 2 leaf stems. I need to water it about once every 3 days as the indicator gets red.

I've read the responses on my first thread, and since my plant is taking in water, I'm going to be patient and wait for spring to come around. Any other advice is still welcome!

They will slow down though the cold weather, be careful not to over water them.

that still looks like it should be planted 2 inches deeper and that still looks like a self watering pot. or at least the outer pot has no way to drain.

Yes it looks like it could be planted a little deeper. It doe's need to have good drainage, let it dry out between waterings.

I agree the corn seems to be a bit lower. Also my plants are in an indoor arboretum that stays between 60*f and 70*f and I only water once a week. But I do keep the room at 60-65% relative humidity.
Watch your water.

I really hope it makes it till spring for you. I'll be honest At those cooler temps and no growth I wouldn't be watering it every 3 days. Have you checked the roots for any signs of life? ? It looks like it's just rotting away :( snip a bit of the top off you can tell that way if there is a brown/ black centre.

I would plant in in coarse sand and would move it away from the windows and heating source...

Does that pot drain well?
All my containers have a drain (3/4") about 1 inch off the bottom. My containers are much bigger also as are the plants.

It can vary for some plants, but getting enough light and the right temperatures makes a difference.
