Musa red dwarf rusticity?

Hello everyone
I just had a red dwarf musa.
what is the hardiness of this musa? lives in Nice in south France in zone 10.
(I'm sorry my english is very bad)

Zone 9-10. They die back to the ground here even with protection. I have fruited gran nain but never dwarf red. They are more sensitive to cold than cavendish types. For sure one of the most cold sensitive varieties I have. Very beautiful plant though. And fruit taste is amazing. Good luck with yours!

Ty, what ground/air temp do you guess that the plant starts regrowing after the winter dieback?
Your right about the cold sensitivity, my plants leaves yellowed at temps in the 50's and lost all leaves in January indoors.
My plant is outside in a container.....doing nothing of course .

In my own opinion, red musa are more light sensitive.

I would say 70s air temps min lows in the 50s. It's hard to guess because here it will jump in the 80s then couple days later back high of 50s. Not sure on ground temps. I never measure but I believe they make a huge difference.

I would agree with the sun sensitivity. Reds are very funny. My Kirkinan died last year. I want another so badly! Reds are very funny plants.

Hello all,
I was wondering if any of you have experience with both Dwarf Red and Dwarf Green banana plants. My understanding is that Dwarf Green is a Dwarf Red that has reverted back to the green color. I have a Dwarf Green that survived outside in the ground in zone 9B last winter (which was colder than I expected there). We had a pretty hard freeze. It got nipped, but not all the way to the ground. (It was maybe 3' high and planted close to an unoccupied and unheated house on the NW side.) I also had one at home in zone 8B that was potted and kept on our closed in front porch with a heater. Does anyone know how Dwarf Green compares with Dwarf Red? I assume that maybe Dwarf Green isn't quite as cold sensitive as Dwarf Red is, but what I mean is, does the flesh look and taste similar to Dwarf Red?

That is my understanding as well Mudturtle. They are a red that reverted to green. I would like to hear from someone who has compared. I have red and you have green so when you have a pup I would be all for a free trade. Then we could both compare! Haha. I have at least 2-3 red pups now that will be ready in a couple weeks. They pup a lot, I'm sure the green does also.

And

Dwarf red green.

From what I've read they are the same only the red reverted to green. I've heard (not verified) the green even has red fruit still!

Yes! I'd really like to swap pups. Problem is that you probably have more that I want of yours, than you want of mine! Unless I can get credit for the 8 hr drive to make the swap.
