Leaves dying off
I have a banana plant that I am growing in Florida. I purchased it in February of this year and it’s been growing beautifully until now. The bottom leaves are dying off one by one. It usually starts at the end of the leaf so that it starts turning yellow and then brown as it progress towards the “trunk”. I noticed it just this past month. Our rain season ended when it would rain every day so I thought maybe it needs more water and I started watering it every other day but it hasn’t helped. When I water it every other day, the top inch of the soil is dry. I also fertilized it. The plant is in full sun and it’s in a large pot. It’s still growing new leaves on the top but again, it only has 7 leaves left and one is already half way brown. As for the weather, it’s 80-90 degrees during the day and high 60-70 at night.
Any tips would be much appreciated. |

Your plant is just getting rid of leaves it does not need any more. If they become too unsightly you may trim them off. Mine are in full swing now.:) ![]() |
