Default Help, are these spider mites??

Just noticed tiny white insects all over my Veranda Banana and some webbing at the very tip of the leaves, also some small orangish/red buggers too. I moved this plant indoors before it got cold and never saw anything like this until now. I had been misting daily for humidity, so maybe that's what brought these on. Any tips to get rid of them? insecticidal soap mixed with water okay?

There are lots of posts on here as you are not alone in the fight against the spider mite army, I use a neem oil, washing-up liquid and warm water mix it works great, if you can take plant outside so you can spray each leaf ( top and bottom)and repeat a few days later....I love the smell of neem oil but it will make a mess inside.

Mine get sprayed a day or two before bringing them indoors and every month or so.

Thanks for the reply. After posting I did notice the other threads. I happened to have some Dr Bonner Castile soap leftover from the summer so I mixed a tablespoon of that with water in a spray bottle and soaked each leaf. I noticed it killed a lot but some were still moving around later. I'll have to get some Neem.

It's far too cold to take it outside now, sadly. I'm in zone 6b. Brrr.

I get a flare up occasionally indoors and out.
Mites will travel from host to host....treat everything close.
Spray the soil, pots and saucers too.....they hide everywhere🪴

Spray your plants in the shower or tub to avoid a mess.....you can leave them in there for a few days till you think you have all under control.

You may take your plants outside for a short time to do your spraying as long as it not freezing.

Use neem with caution because it can damage/smother your plant if applied heavily.
Most garden insecticides will control them also......

This usually occurs when there is a lot of humidity. You need to take care of it by mixing some fertilizers or chicken manure. Also, do spray your plant with some good insect killers.

I kind of figured I was overdoing it with the spritzing of water. I cut back on that. Good news is the insecticidal soap spray I made with water and Dr. Bonner's Castile soap seems to have worked after a couple of additional sprays, so I'll stick with that for now if they come back.

I just want to say what a great resource this place is. Everyone is so nice and helpful!
