Default Help with my plant. yellowed leaves

My banana plant (Super Dwarf Cavendish) is about 2 years old and the leaves are all starting to change to a pale yellow, then turn brown and die. I have also noticed some white stuff on one of the leaves that has died. I have other plants that I bought at the same time and have no problems with them. I have checked to see if there were any spider mites but no sign of them. I keep the plants inside and they get 6+ hours of sun each day. I spray the leaves with water every 2-3 days, along with normal watering. Before the leaves began changing color, I noticed a change in the growth of the leaves. They were coming out more often (2 or 3 at a time) and they had become smaller. I will try to post a picture of it, but I'm not sure how to do that. Can anyone give me suggestions on how to save it? Or is this something that can happen to them normally? It has not had any pups yet.
I have added pictures on my gallery.

Here's a pic of your plant. You just need to copy and paste for bulletin boards.

It looks like it might be staying to wet or lacking Nitrogen. The white stuff may be mealy bugs, just guessing.

Thats exactly how the new leafs looked like on my Ensete ventricosum when it was rotting,a few weeks before it finally died because of me not recognising it and not correcting the overwatering problem
I would bareroot the plant, wash off all boggy soil,clean/remove rotting, mushy parts of roots and corm and plant in a well draining mix(lots of either or all:sand/gravel/perlite/peat or even plain perlite to get it to surely recover and then change to high organic soil if you like). Place the plant in a warm area and dont water till the soil mostly dried out. Then start watering when 2/3 of the soil dries or when leafs start getting more droopy than usual after many days without water.

Wish your banana a fast and full recovery!

Default Re: Help with my plant. yellowed leaves, New problem

Unfortunately, I lost 2 of my 4 plants to this problem. I was however able to save the other 2. Now I'm having a different problem with one of my 2 remaining ones. I am watering them less often (to avoid the same problem) but now one of them has a weakening root system. the leaves are still growing in green, but some of the roots are shriveled and the plant is starting to tilt to one side. Can it be saved?

It could be the rotten, dead roots starting to shrivel or the fungal infection not having completely stopped yet and progressing. There does is a slight chance for this to be due to the roots drying out from lack of water but only if the side opposite the lean never is moist or never gets watered well when you water. But generally, you don't loose a banana from infrequent watering and they tend to take a long time to be affected from it other than stop growing. From rot however, you can lose them fast so a little too dry, especially following root rot,is always preferable!
If it's continuing rot,the roots will be mushy and maybe the corm will have a dot area. If you see any of these to a good extend, uproot, cut infected part, let the corm dry for a day and pot in perlite till it roots well again. Then you can change back to soil.
If it's due to dryness, roots should be desiccated and its all good. Just increase a tad the watering frequency or soak in a water bucket instead of watering from above in case the soil has become hygrophobic and doesnt accept water readilly.
If the area of the shriveled roots does stay moist for sufficient amount of time for roots to thrive and the roots are not mushy, then it's probably just dead, shriveled roots that were already dead from rot before and they just shriveled after correcting the watering problem. Given time and maybe some support, new roots will grow and anchor the plant again.

I wish your plant fast recovery!
