Help! Banana leaves are turning yellow (and growth is stunted)

Hey, I'm new to growing bananas. My dwarf Cavendish has recently stopped growing and the old leaves are turning yellow and then shrivelling up. I'm not sure if this is from over or underwatering.

The soil is a mixture of tropical soil, perlite, and a cactus mix. I live in Canada so the plant has always been kept indoors.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Update: Here are some pictures of the roots I removed. It looks like fungus to me but I'm not sure. Does anyone know?

Pictures would greatly help and you didn't describe the pot used.

My guess is the soil is too wet and soggy in the bottom of the pot. Start by repotting the plant in a mix with 50% perlite. Make sure the pot has drain holes and a saucer. Put something under the pot to keep the drain hole above any water in the saucer.

It's likely root rot has set in, the roots should be white. If not, trim the black roots off and clean the corm with bleach water to kill the rot. After repotting it will take a month or 2 before seeing any new. growth.

GET rid of the Waterier! It's keeping the soil constantly wet and causing your problem. Put a raise under the pot to get the drain holes above the excess water in the saucer.

A bigger pot would help too. The soil can hold more water without being soggy.

The dropbox thumbnails are hard to see. Please use a regular picture hosting service or upload to your forum storage. ... I don't/won't download from dropbox and then have to run run antivirus checks.

Thanks for the help everyone! I took your advice and also applied some fungicide.
