Default fruit blackened, died

My Pisang Raja grew vigorously and fruited relatively fast for me. But then the fruit, while the size of a small finger, turned black.

I did some searching, but can't figure out if this happened from inadequate care or perhaps a nasty disease. The plant held many leaves at a time for most of its life, but was down to 3 healthy leaves when I noticed that the fruit had died.

So far the two other younger stalks look fine. Should I assume they are diseased, and remove them before my other banana stands are affected?

Many thanks for any ideas on what went wrong.
