![]() Hi guys:
Looking for some help. We have a small banana patch with several plants. Two of the plants are producing fruit. The worst plant is (purchased as) FHIA 3, sweetheart. The stem is approximately 7 feet tall and has been growing well until now. The leaf production has slowed and the new leaf looks a bit wonky. The problem is we are starting to see brown mushy spots on the pseudostem, peeling the spots back produces a bunch of water, leaves are drying out, the leaf stems are cracking, and there are some tiny white bugs under the stem leaf. Not sure what is going on. I hope that it is nothing serious. My first instinct was to reduce the drip irrigation system from 20 min twice a day to 15 min once a day. We just started fertilizing with banana fuel as directed. Weather has been variable here in Tampa, some nights down to the 50s and 70-80s during the day. Planted in a sunny location behind the house. Any ideas, hints, thoughts? Thanks, Joe |

![]() Looks like you have a phosphorous deficiency ... may be boron too. Add 60g ssp phosphate around each plant. ... Check the pH of your soil.
