Default Caterpillars

Just planted a musa basjoo that has been getting holes in the new leaves. I picked a small black caterpillar off the emerging leaf today.

Any suggestions?

I'm tempted to sprinkle Orthene powder around the plant as a systemic insecticide.

I had tent type larvae last year......I sprayed.
These were some Hungry Howies.

Since my plants do not produce edible fruit I use a Bayer systemic to control spider mites and as a prophylactic.
