Banana leaves yellowing and dying!
 

Hello everybody

i'm new to bananas.org and really hope you can help me! I have posted some pictures here (Banana Gallery - tom.decree Gallery) so you all can see the evolution of my banana plant.

The first pic was taken at the end of 2011, as you can see : a very nice plant with lots of green leaves. The next pic was taken june 2012, again still growing and shining. But then it went wrong. As from 2013 i had to cut the leaves one by one because they first began to yellow, then brown and just rot. Today I still have only 4 leaves left (all yellow and brown). I haven't changed anything regarding nutrition of soil.

Strangest thing is that I don't think the plant is sick, because again as from 2013 we have had 5 pups from that plant (none of them really shooting up when apart from the mother plant but still...).

I really hope you/bananas.org can give me some help about what's going on. If you need more information from me of pics, just ask.

Yes I also think spidermites. Can you see a very fine webbing anywhere on the plant, but mainly older leaves? If it's spidermites you need to raise the humidity by spraying it with water everyday or put it outside.

first of all thanks for the fast response.

Indeed, I can see a small web between the petiole and the blade of the leaf. I will sure try spraying it because I cannot put it outside.

What should I do then because I suppose all the leaves will rot. Should I cut the plant? What about the pups, will they survive?

I wouldn't cut it I'd spray it and let it recover.. I'd spray it every month if I were you kinda like preventive maintenance. :^)

PS : is my banana plant a Dwarf Cavendish?
