Default Advice - Division timing?

Hey All - Just curious about when it is ok to divide a potted plant. One of my Dwarf Orinocos has 2 good size p-stems in an overwintered pot without much foliage at this point. It may have been over watered but seems to be starting to grow and both p-stems feel firm.

I would like to divide them but not sure if it is a good idea to do it now or not.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

No experience with plants in pots but Kepler's book "World of Banana's in Hawaii..." mentions 2' height as ideal separation. In your case I think that if the plants look crowded in the pot (and they do to me) its time to separate.

Somebody who does have experience with plants in pots will hopefully chime in.

The pup looks big enough to be on it's own. Take them out of the pot and see if it has it's own roots, if it doe's it should be fine to divide them.
