Default Banana Article--History of Disease and Development of New Varieties

Will bananas disappear from the tropics? This article explains the history and current efforts of finding new banana hybrids that are resistant to disease. I found it interesting. Maybe the only banana growers in the future will be in cold climates like zones 7 and 8 where freezes can kill diseases. Wouldn't that be ironic?

this is the Dan Koeppel article from 2005, he is the author of the new book: Banana: The Fate of the Fruit That Changed the World. it is from his research for this article that he decided to write the book.
