![]() This link will take you straight to the banana bunch bags.
Fruits Packaging Materials,Bunch Bags,Vacuum Bags,Fruit Liner,India Do you need them.....that depends on what your trying to achieve. The commercial growers use them to keep the fruit looking pretty for the picky consumers who like to have unblemished fruit. I've never used them and my fruit grow just fine. They do get some dirt, bird poop, spiders, acid rain, and whatever else on them but it doesn't bother me. They still taste great! Last edited by LilRaverBoi : 05-13-2010 at 12:56 AM. ![]() It always amazes me the things that people require of growers to get perfect fruit...not perfect tasting mind you but perfect looking. I suspect that holding the fruit at cool temperatures to make the trip over here does something to the taste. Which leads me to another question. How long has Gran Naine been the banana of commerce? When I eat my dwarf cavendish bananas at my house they taste a lot like the bananas I used to put in my cereal 15-20 years ago. I think I had read that they used to use Valery and Williams at one point in time in central America and the Caribbean. I've also noticed that a lot more poor quality bananas are making it to stores. I see a lot of gray skinned bananas nowadays.

![]() in my place in southwest Mexico, banana bags might be sheets of newsprint or plastic surrounding the bunch as it grows...the only reason ever gioven is that the wraps tent to reduce abraision from rubbing against the stem or leaves while they ripen...makes a 'grade level' difference in the price paid in the field...and every peso matters here...

![]() I've actually started making banana bags myself. I use lightweight frost cloth(Spun polypropelyne). It comes on a roll already doubled over. I sew a seam on the open side and that creates a tube that is the perfect size for bananas.
