I finally got my seeds, and from what I read, the first step is soaking the seeds... For 6 days? What temperature should the water be? Should the temperature of the water fluctuate?

I normally soak mine for 2 or 3 days and leave them on a hot radiator

Ok, I've have soaked the seeds (50 sikkimensis and 54 velutina) in water I had boiled and then cooled previously, they have been in the water for 48 hours in a room at 24 C.
Now I poured hot water on some dry baby wipes, and when they had cooled down I packed the seeds in them and placed them in a plastic bag. I'll place them in a room at 25 C during the day and in another at 12 C during the night.

(Trying to follow the informations I found on this document: Seed Germination Studies in Musa. II. Alternating Temperature Requirement for the Germination of Musa balbisiana on JSTOR ""The temperature differentials optimal for germination in soil are dependent upon both the high and low temperatures, and range from 8-23 C. Germination is maximal when the seeds are held 6-12 hr at the high (27-35 C) and 12-18 hr at the low (12-18 C) temperatures. Some germination can be induced by short exposures to alternating temperatures followed by constant high temperatures, but continuous exposure to alternating temperatures is necessary for maximum germination.")

I hope I'll get something...

It's been some days now, but obviously, still nothing. Considering that "normal" seeds take about 3 days to germinate, trying to germinate bananas is quite depressing...

I just checked the seeds and found out that the "belly button" of one of the sikkimensis seeds has come out!

Just checked mine today and this

Soaked them from February 22 to the 24th
Then planted them and kept heat mat set to 87 degrees for 8 hours then Rey of the time off

Badly. It looks like they are germinating, and then they rot :-(

How big are they when they start rotting? After mine got their first leaf I transplanted mine. Do you keep watering the mix or something. I only watered them one time after moistening the mix to start and only lightly cause it was looking like it was finally getting a little dry on the top. I re moistened with a spray bottle.

They rot right after they start to stick out from the seed opening. I kept them in a moist cloth in a plastic bag... Maybe too wet.

How about some mould spray or something like that
Make sure they have rot free soil or cloth
You could swap out the bag and cloth if it keeps happening as banana seeds are very sensitive to fungi
