Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc.

I was given seeds of m.velutina last fall, and had no luck germinating them. I tried scarring the shell, pre-soaking, and smoke exposure, in various combinations. Nuttin'!

Did you ever get some to grow for you? I was thinking this might be a good choice for a first timer, in spite of fruits stuffed with jaw-breaking seeds?

This is my musa velutina. Germinated about 40 days in the wet sphagnum moss. On the eastern side of the windowsill. The sun shone upon them from morning till noon. Age seeds half a year.
