| Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

So i soaked the seeds (regular sikks and Daj Giants) back on June 5 and i've got atleast 5 sprouts already (i did plant 200 seeds!). I'm going to be over run very soon.

What was your seed source, Frank? I have horrible luck with sikkimensis. I did get one Daj Giant to sprout though.
Edit: Looks like banana-tree.com seed packets...right? |

Banana Tree out of PA, i think. I ordered them back in May.
I soaked them from 24 to 48hrs (in water). Conditions have been perfect. Above 50F the whole time, some days over 90F...humid/dry...rain...a little of everything. I did keep them out of the shade (they would dry out to fast in the shade). Some i kept covered (above) but some of the sprouts weren't covered. I'm guessing the weather was the key (along with good seeds?). I'll let them get established before moving anything. |
