| Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

If you see any dwarf ornamental bananas that have plump fruit then it is probably full of seeds.
As far as edible bananas having seed, your not that likely to find any seeded bananas in the market, but you never know, so you might want to ask. If you do find some seeds, be sure to clean them of all the pulp. I'm not sure if it is illeagle or not in the UK, but your restrictions are most likely more lax than here in the US. There is another seed you might want to try to bring back. The coco de mers, or double coconut which is a really awesome seed, the largest in the plant kingdom, grows from their native palm tree. |

I think it's no possible to get one of those cocos (called in France coco-buttock) they are completely protected by the Seychelles and not very easy to put it in your pocket...

I've actually got a Coco De Mer nut; I brought it back with me when I visited there in 1999. You have to have a licence to export each nut from the country, only 4,000 are harvested each year and the majority of those are shipped to India where the pulp is extrated and used to make a liqueure. My nut has pride of place in my WC!
Thanks for the tips on nanas Dave |
