| Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

Dear All,
I have only one germinated seed from around 20 seeds. Like a fool I did not label the pots so it is either coccinea or sikkimensis. However I have noticed that it's fast rate of growth has stopped and the sole leaf appears to be drying out and losing its point. A similar thing seems to be happening to the stem. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZPg...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rZ9...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1k2F...ew?usp=sharing Hopefully these links will work, i have tried to upload them to the gallery, but for some reason they do not seem to be appearing there. Is anyone able to offer any thoughts on this? Many thanks in advance Peego. ![]() |

They look OK to me. It does look like a Sikkimensis rather than a coccinea, but you can tell from the shape of the seeds.
The first leaf often dries out depending on the type of light environment, if it has gone from a low light to a high light environment for example. It does look a bit leggy so maybe it does need a bit more light. |

Hi jmoore,
Thanks so much for getting back to me and for your helpful answer. Its in a garden room with patio doors and 3 velux windows in the roof at the moment. Do you think its worth putting it outside and leaving it there? best wishes Peego |

No I wouldn't put it outside yet. Sounds fine where it is for a bit.
