| Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

Hi,
now is my friend Helton in Brazil offering 3 banana species as seeds , also species which I have introducted to Brazil in the past. They are Musa yunnanensis, mannii and beccarii. The seeds are very fresh, more fresher than from Rarepalmseeds! Forget Rarepalmseeds if you do want seeds from Musa yunnanensis, mannii and beccarii to get more germination success. Only very fresh banana seeds will germinate well. But if you do want order, the minimum order is 5 species, so you have to order some another Brazilian fruit varieties, many of them are rare. But in the future we will offer more wild banana species. Helton's banana list grows and grows, now 52 cultivars and wild species in the moment, see Família das musaceae Many of them are also growing on my yard in Lucianópolis. The seedlist is on Rare and Brazilian Fruits Best wishes Basjoofriend |

Hi Joachim
Great to see you are producing excellent musa seed. I would have liked to have bought some, but then I saw the prices and almost fainted. Sorry your seeds are too expensive for me I can buy plants for cheaper. |

Hi Joachim,
The photo in the seed list of M.beccarii is wrong. It is M.ornata hybrid which is rather common. The true M.beccarii you can see in my avatar. Markku. |

I agree with James, you have minimum order for about 40€, course thats your choice and I do respect that, but you will sell less seeds that way.

Hi,
there is also a problem with the exchange between the US$, BRL (R$) and €, which s always alternating. And there also are PayPal charges. But Brazil has desvalued its currency to the euro, but not to the dollar. Also international postal charges are higher than the national postal charges. But the germination rate is much better than the seeds from Rarepalmseeds, Sementes.de, sunshine-seeds.de and other seed merchants. Helton had also problems with the banana seeds from Rarepalmseeds, I already posted about this some months ago here, because of Musa peekelii, voonii and other rare bananas from Borneo and Papua New Guinea. He had only luck with Musa schizocarpa and one variety of Musa campestris. Now I have planted 2 plants of Musa schizocarpa at my pond on my yard in Lucianópolis last year. I will also get one pup of Musa campestris in late October after my arrival in Brazil, Helton's uncle will fetch my wife and me from the International Airport Guarulhos and will bring us to Helton and his nursery. Then Helton will bring us and banana pups and other fruit trees to our home to Lucianópolis. Helton will produce fresh seeds from rare bananas, also from Musa schizocarpa and campestris in the future. @Markku, yes, you are right, the flower is too pale for Musa beccarii, thank you. I will inform Helton, that his pic is wrong and cannot be Musa beccarii, only one Musa ornata. Best wishes Joachim |

Sell your seeds in $US that way only the buyer worries about the exchange rate.
Also how are you sending your seeds? In a lead lined box? I can't believe sending a padded envelope anywhere in the world costs that much. I thought the UK had the highest postage rates these days. Anyway far be it from me to tell you how to run your business, it's just that I buy a lot of seeds and was very excited when I saw your advert and was going to buy some, but the cost stopped me from buying anything. Also it is good that you have fresh seeds, but they don't stay fresh for long. They do need to be dried and stored correctly otherwise they will go off very quickly, even in a few days. I think that's where RPS (and a lot of other seed suppliers) go wrong. How will you be storing your seeds? Anyway sounds like an inquisition, sorry didn't mean it to be. Can't wait for the other banana varieties to come on line. |

You will get directly from Brazil from Helton! I get orders by email and forward them to Helton by email to Brazil and he checks whether the seeds are still available, then he informs me, then I write one invoice to you by email and you pay by PayPal, then I inform Helton by email that you have already paid, then he will ship the seeds to you!
I work together with Helton. He does not have PayPal, because no creditcard like VISA or MasterCard, and also does not speak German and English, so that I work for him, so he can also ship worldwide. But he also supports me to realize my banana collection dream in Brazil. I speak German, English, Portuguese, a bit Spanish, DGS (German Sign Language for the Deaf) and a bit LIBRAS (Brazilian Sign Language for the Deaf). I learnt the Portuguese language from my Brazilian guest daughter, who lives now since 5 years with me and she is now doctoral candidate, her dad is my housekeeper in Brazil and former banana farmer. Best wishes Joachim |

When you do order more than 20 seed packets, then the order will parted, the second part follows one week later, the international postal charges will duplize. Every postal packet contains to 20 seed packets. Minimum order is 5 seed packets and maximum order is usually 20 seed packets. See also the rules on my seedlist.
If you do order for anyone in Northern California, then you let ship the order to you, you keep your part of the order and send the by one friend requested to him to Northern California. The international postal charge is much expensiver than the national. Best wishes Joachim |
