Musa Cheesmanii Germination Update!
I have been trying to germinate my 10 Musa Cheesmanii seeds for the past two months at first i soaked for 48 hrs and then planted in potting soil with peat and the i ran out of patience a month later(Im 17 that will tell you all you need to know) then i just threw them into water for 3 weeks and just 3 days ago put them in a wet paper towel and now two of the seeds have what looks like white fungus or salt in the seeds eye. Is it really fungus or is it finally waking up from its sleep?

Re: Musa Cheesmanii Germination Update!
Hmmmm... One of the pics looks like germination might be ongoing. Why not put the seeds into sand (1/2 inch burial only) spacing them out so that they are less likely to infect each other... THEN WAIT!
If there is a germination going on you're not likely to be kept waiting for long. BTW... the key to patience in horticulture (...well, I notice this in myself..) is to have very many projects ongoing; that way, every day you'll be seeing some sort of action! Never a boring moment! shannon shannon.di.corse@gmail.com |
Re: Musa Cheesmanii Germination Update!
Thanks Shannon,
I went with your advice and just ordered Ten Musa thomsonii and Ten Musa balbisiana Gigantea I have no clue what im going to do with them when they germinate but i guess it would be fun to have a jungle in my back and front yard. any cool specie you think i should try? I already have a dwarf cavendish, Mekong giant(planted 3 months ago and have 1 pup), and a Musa sikkimensis red tiger (planted 2 months ago and has 3 pups). Thanks, Naz |

I don't know what seeds to which you might have access. All I can say is that I envy you. I'd suggest that you try to acquire a comprehensive collection of acuminata types from seed. There's quite a variety! Or you might want to go for the smaller "ornamental" species. shannon shannon.di.corse@gmail.com |
