| Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

Just a bit of info for you seed people. I took 30 Musa chessmani seeds and planted them outside. Its been hot here around 100F during the day and about 68 at night. They were planted outside right under a 4 foot Musa mysore. In 3 weeks i have 20 poking up at this time. I took another 20 seeds from the same batch ( i had 50 total) and planted them inside. On a heat mat at about 85F during the day and 68F at night. So far not a single one from the inside germination setup has sprouted. Both planted on the same day.Maybe outside is better? lol.

Mark, I just got a few Ingens seeds from a member here. I am going to put half of them in ordinary soil as you did, and the rest are going into sterile soil, fluctuating temps, 2 week soak, etc. etc.
A few questions for you: 1. What, if any, pre-treatment did you use prior to planting? 2. What type of soil did you plant them in? 3. Why hasn't anyone else responded to this post? Thanks for the info. |
