Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

![]() One of the few bananas I've grown from "seed to seed"...well almost at least (this plant didn't make seed, but its the thought that counts!)

![]() Hey Michael, "Killer " should be you, if you succeed. I prefer "Die Hard"

![]() Die Hard would be perfect. Since its was nitrogen burn I even thought of Bernie or Nitro. If he crashes out Bernie as in "Weekend at Bernie's" would fit. But if he grows big and majestic I like Nitro. I don't know though Pukie is kinda growing on me.

![]() That's so cool Gabe to have grown your M. balbisiana x M. dasycarpa from seed and have it bloom. Man you set the rung pretty high there.

![]() Ensete superbum
I really love this species. I bought a bunch of old seeds and managed to get 3/10. They got too big for the pot so I had to transfer them to my nursery to the ground. It is approx 1 yr old in this pix. I just gotta get more. I like the common name, Bird's Nest Banana cos if I didn't trim the leaves it looks like the Bird Nest's fern, Asplenium nidus. I am going to get lots more sds and use this plant for landscaping at my nursery. Note the water clogged pot. At this size, it seems to enjoy it but not when young whereby they prefer a very porous soil. |

![]() Variegated Musa beccarii!
This was germinated on Feb '09. I got only 4/50 even though the sds were listed as fresh when I bought them. Let's hope it will stay like this as it grows. Being variegated, the growth is slow and I did not give it fert cos I don't want it to build up strength and turn all green. |
