Germination station

Hi all,
Yesterday I made a germination station for banana seeds, and other plants as yuccas, palms.I bought a large clear plastic box and I put a reading lamp, wich is capable to produce a temperature about 90-95 F.The humidity is high becasuse I put some plastic bags on the pots.
I will try the following banana seeds:Musa cheesmani, Musa Helen's, Musa Sikkimensis,Musa Sikkimensis Red Tiger and Musa itinerans:416:
Wish me luck!

Very good idea, when you do see the seeds start to come up and grow try not to keep them in their to long with that light,,reason that lights color spectrum is gona be a lower kelvin wich in return will make your plants stretch and be leggy looking .if you could put a light with the other one you have that has more of a blueish look to it like a 6,500 kelvin bulb you wont have your plants wanting to stretch right away, the red spectrum is for flowering and budding and some growth but the blue end of the spectrum is for foilage and growth and will keep your plants even looking in growth. Take care-Jason.

That's a good idea! I'll try that next time, it looks more solid than mine :)

I made my own germination mat the other day. I looked at prices for heat mats, and decided be creative and save some bucks, since I went waaay over my budget this month (Holidays!:naner7hat: )

Taped and (carefully) stapled some cheap indoors christmas lights on a piece of coroplast (those electoral banners), then put it at the bottom of an aquarium. Covered everything with clean sand, then foil paper. One half of the Christmas light pad heats to 25-28C, and the other half to 20C.

My seeds are in seedling mix in a Ferrero Rocher box. Hopes it works!
