| Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

All ten M. balbisiana seeds now germinated
Hurray!!! The top of the grill incubator about 120F, soil ~105F, daytime ambient high 80s-low 90sF. Slow nighttime reduction to ambient low to mid 70s F. Top and bottom vents wide open with upper vent positioned away from the seed pots. Seeds soaked in ~140F water overnight then planted as deep as they are tall in peat pellets surrounded with moisture retentive soil surrounding and shallow manure top dressing over all. Just planted Musa textilis seed directly in peaty soil with some manure. Will report if it works in similar fashion.

Re: Banana seed incubator- Abaca
Another germination victory! Six M. textilis seeds( thanks Going Bananas☺️) germinated. Were in the Weber incubator until last week when outdoor temps began hitting 100F day, mid to high 70s F over night. Now I have all my first choice textile bananas. Now to plan for winter.

How are you maintaining the 140 degree temp water for overnight soaking?

For the soak a wide mouth thermos. But I have done it with a jar wrapped in insulation, adding more hot water half way through.
