Default Want feedback on a website I am considering ordering from.

I know that it is important to be careful where we order from, so I wanted to get some feedback from you all. Has anybody ordered from bananaplants.net? If so, would you order from there, again? I'd appreciate your input and recommendations. Thanks so much!

That link goes to Green Earth Company; AkA Green Earth Publishing. I they are located in Florida. Use the forum search to locate comments about the company. Comments seem to be mixed: mostly about rude service or slow delivery.

Obdiah,

I'm so glad that you told me you don't necessarily get what you order. I Need to get what I order, because I am only interested in dwarf varieties. I live near Fort Worth, so I am going to keep my banana plants in containers and bring them in during the winter, and I only have 8' ceilings.

P.S. Congratulations on fruiting your bananas!

It's not just my opinion here; Basically there are very, very few places to get true to type varieties. Most online sellers don't have the right plants to begin with or like said up above they'll ship whatever, because people can't grown them or don't know the difference.

Your best bet in every case is to find someone locale that actually grows them and you can talk with them. Or you find a good forum member that grows their own plants.
Everything I have that is true to its type has come from people on this site.

The amount of mislabeling and random selling, and TC BS is unfortunately rampant.
Unless you buy from someone fruiting out the variety you're wanting it's a gamble that you'll likely lose.

Thank you guys for the kind words! The #1 reason i sell is the provide material that growers want and make sure it’s the correct plant. When i started i received so many incorrect plants. Thanks mostly to members here and good friends like Hector I’ve made over the years, I’ve been able to establish quite a collection.

From my experience and many many others i can say that I would Never order from Greenearth! Ever! I can say he sends big healthy plants! They just will not be what you order. I’ve known 2 friends order Orinoco and get cavendish! That’s bad lol.

I would recommend these places instead!!
For a TC plant order from Sddarkman!! He is an awesome guy and will send you the correct plant! If he doesn’t have it then try GoingBananas in FL! BEWARE buying a TC from anywhere else.

And of course i will have pups. I won’t be shipping until spring. April maybe. Depends on how our winter goes.

And the BEST way to get pups is FREE!! From trading with me or other members on here! Lots of amazing people here they will go out of their way to help you. Just be sure they have fruited and verified what they have!

I second what Ty says (Ty is definitely Legit!). I have fruited many of the plants that I got from green earth publishing and Florida Hill Nursery that provide TC starts. Zero were correct. However, I can second that ssdarman619 on this forum sells properly ID'ed TC's, or at least TC's true to the ID they receive from the wholesaler.

Green Earth Publishing (bananaplants.net), wellsprings Gardens, Florida Hill Nursery, etc. send you whatever TC start looks good at the time of ordering, so what I ended up getting isn't what you'll necessarily get:
1) ordered ice cream, got raja puri.
2) ordered california gold, got a williams (culled, can't fruit here)
3) ordered rajapuri, got American Goldfinger (note: this was from a TC start from a local farmer's market)
4) ordered pisang raja, got hi color mini (culled)
5) ordered veinte cohol, got a high color mini (super dwarf mutant of dwarf cavendish? culled)
6) ordered dwarf brazilian, got dwarf cavendish (culled)

In most cases, it took 2-3 years before knowing what was sent to me, and it took a lot of work getting fellow musa experts here to help ID them! The TC starts are cheap, but the time and money you spend growing them isn't. You'll save a lot of time, money, and headache ordering the right cultivar from our members here! So far, every member I've ordered from on this form has sent me properly ID'ed plants.

If buying corms, many of the vendors on this site have photo-documented the varieties they offer, so there's proof that they'll send you the real deal.

I only sell what I really have. and I usually only sell Agristarts specimens.
I actually plant and harden out their TC's so you will get a plant that is rooted fairly well in a pot as opposed to a plug wrapped in a baggy. Now that I have a website up for my Bananas and Passion vines, you can go there and order what you want but I am quickly running out of what I have.
This winter has killed many peoples plants and nurseries plants. So I am being bought out quickly and I won't be able to restock as my suppliers are booked out for several months, and I won't have anything for a while once these are gone. So what I have on my website is what I have. I'm completely out of goldfingers and won't be getting any for a few months.I'm almost out of Gros Michels and won't be getting any for a few months. Manzanos are all gone. But go to my site and you will see what I have.
Thanks for the kinds words guys.
I will also speak for Taylor though I've not gotten anything from him, I know he's got what he says he has. He knows his stuff.

Funny, I am revisiting this post as I was researching a company called....Green earth. As they are advertising Gros Michel Bananas right now and I know for a FACT Gros Michel are NOT Available as of this date, 12/26/2018.
The reason I started looking them up is they have a listing on Ebay for Gros Michel and Basjoo. Both listing have the same photo of a Basjoo and I called them on it. They said it was for size relevance and I said why not put up a photo of the actual plant. as your photo of a gros michel is actually a Basjoo.
Now researching this company I stumble upon this thread that I have already commented on.
If you ever have a question about any companies online, just ask here. Myself I only sell what I have available as I don't want a bad reputation for myself. I know Ty is good as well. There are a few others who sell on here but not at the volume Myself or Ty sell at.
and thank you.

You can get pretty much anything you need or want from fellow Org members, Ty is an excellent source as well as several others. At least you would get what you pay for.
Happy growing,

Why is there a need to buy bananas? There are so many extras I get that go in the garbage just from thinning. If every person who has plants thins out, then there should be thousands of free plants.
